Flower Report for January

Well folks, the first month of the new year is in the books and we’re still digging ourselves out from all that snow!! To help combat those January blues and blahs, the OCS has graciously blessed us with several new product drops thus far in 2023.

We’ve recently acquainted ourselves with the vape cart offerings Versus namely their Peach Dream and Mad Mango 1g carts. Offering the ideal cross-section of quality, potency and value, these carts are sure to bring a warm smile to many faces this winter!

Making (new) waves in the world of flower, newcomers Terp Town Collective have made a splash with their Sherbhead flower (a well expressed example of the parental lineage of Sunset Sherbert X Headband). You’re going to also want to keep an eye out for True Fire’s spicy Tai Punch. Think Mai Tai and not Bangkok as this one’s a serious indica leaner with a tropical fruit profile. Growtown has come out swinging into 2023 with their Chem Cookies eighths. If you like Chemdawg, GSC, OG Kush or just plain good old fashioned cannabis flower, this strain is worth checking out.

In the world of vapes, the aforementioned Versus offerings have been crowd favourites. However, coming in hot this year is Fuego’s Berry N’ice 1g cart featuring a tasty blue raspberry and cream soda flavour profile. You can bet this Linalool forward cart packs a sweet punch.

The world of pre-rolled joints is enjoying some new formats as well as reaching new highs with the ever so hot infused pre-rolls. Reaching as high as 40%+ these turbo charged pre-rolls are fortified with either kif, hash, distillate, shatter, resin, THC diamonds or any combo of 2 or more coupled with high grade flower to start. Namely, General Admission has some distillate infused pre-rolls that are going to have people talking or eating, or just being baked. Lots of early rumblings about the Tiger Blood and Peach Ringz have us licking our chops to get the next batch in the store. Dank Craft has also released pre-roll packs of their Koko’s Cookies flower. If you’re on the fence about whether or not to pick up their 14g Koko’s Cookies, this a great, low cost, low commitment way to give it a test drive (it worked for me!!).

The world of snacks and beverages has seen plenty of fresh names and products we’ve all been champing at the bit to try. Starting with the new Spinach Feelz THC+CBC Mango Lime soft chews featuring Cannabichromene. Say that fast like, once! Another minor cannabinoid that has seen increased studies pointing to its heightened anti-inflammatory response as well as killing pain. Of course, these studies are ongoing and like anything in the world of research, is subject to increased sample studies and time. Technically not an edible, the Drift Glitches along with the Edison lozenges have garnered a lot of attention (good and not so good) lately with their high potency offerings (50mg+ per package). That said, these products have found their way into Health Canada’s crosshairs, so let’s all hope that they do the right thing and continue to allow people access to these much needed products. As far as beverages go, everyone seems to be adding to their lineups namely the new Phresh Grape drink packed with 10mg of THC and zero sugar.  Also jumping into the new flavour mix is Collective Project Day Tripper, a delightful raspberry forward remix of their OG Blood Orange, Yuzu and Vanilla drink that’s still pretty amazing in its own right.

That pretty much sums up all the hot news for the first month of the calendar year. For an in depth look at True North Mai Tai 3.5g, check out Maxwell’s review.
