The Good Summer Flower Report Card

As summer reaches its midpoint, we thought it would be a Good idea to take a look at some product highlights to showcase and share with everyone. From flower, to pre-rolls to vapes and edibles; the new summer offerings have been creating a buzz on the streets. Continue reading if you want to find out what cool new menu listings we’ve been vibing with this summer!

Starting with new flower stock, we’ve seen some new players enter the local canna-sphere and initial reception has been very positive. Newcomers Woody Nelson Cannabis hailing from the heart of the Kootenays in Nelson, BC have brought some high quality, terpene rich flower to market with their Rainbow Driver and Glade Runner strains. Rainbow Driver is a delightful cross of the ever fragrant Sundae Driver and the fruity, sweet Zkittlez. This tasty hybrid packs a sweet, gassy flavour profile with plenty of depth and complexity. Sporting a THC range of 28%-32% this slightly Indica leaning hybrid delivers a solid experience that even the harshest critics will enjoy. Those krazy kanucks from the Kootenays also crossed some classic Seed Junky genetics with their Glade Runner flower. Animal Cookies and Kush Mints #11 join forces to produce a wonderful mix with flavour notes of tart green apple, cookie dough and pastries. Packed with T’n’T, that’s THC and terpenes (range 26%-30% THC & ~3% terpenes), Glade Runner has incredible bud structure that is the result of careful growing practices and growers that happen to give a s$%t about their produce.

Next up in new flower news are our friends from the East coast, Eastcann whose home base is situated in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Bringing a wealth of legacy experience and knowledge to the (grow) table, the master growers at Eastcann have parlayed that knowledge and experience into some truly fine cannabis. Notably, Eastcann’s Poison OG is a well crafted tribute to a classic GSC. True to its roots, Poison OG is a cross of the classic Durban Poison and an OG Kush cut. The unmistakable GSC flavour profile of gassy vanilla, pastry with hints of pine, citrus on a light woodsy backdrop shines brightly in the Poison OG. With a THC range of 31%-37% and a terpene array in the 3% range, this particular cut of Poison OG is shockingly similar to the original forum cut of GSC. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is actually a forum cut GSC! All that to say this is very well grown flower that is well worth the price of admission.

And if larger, bulk buys are your thing, we’ve got some great choices available for you this summer. Starting out with the BC Black Blueberry Frost 14g bag of flower grown by Crowfoot Cannabis. The result of a cross of Blueberry Syrup and Permafrost, Blueberry Frost delivers a healthy dose of blueberry sweetness with hits of earth and petrol. Visually, this flower is a real looker! Hues of purple and green with a heavy dusting of frosty trichomes dominate the visual appearance of this wonderful flower. Keep an eye out for this flower when we get it in to the shop because it usually doesn’t too long! If 14g just isn’t quite enough for you, The Loud Plug has rolled out a couple of 28g bags of flower. Starting with their 1oz bag of Exotic Gas, the offspring of a Rockstar Kush and Headband union, one can expect a gas forward profile with a light pine and mild skunk background. The batch we were able to get our hands on came in at 29% and 3.53% terpenes which loosely translates to: This is really good flower!!!! Hot on its trail and also from The Loud Plug is the Venom (OG) 1oz bag of flower. A cross of Poison OG and Rare Dankness #1, Venom OG delivers a heavy handed dose of indica dominant goodness highlighted by strong hits of diesel, citrus and pine with a little skunk for good measure. Another heavy hitter coming in at 29.4% THC and 3.41% terpenes, Venom (OG) is a no-brainer if you’re looking to stock up for that camping trip or that week the kids are away at camp. In either case, The Loud Plug has you covered.

Now that we’ve covered a few new Indica leaning hybrids, it’s only fair that we showcase some Sativa leaning offerings new to the stockroom. Starting with Bud Lafleur, Pointe Claire, Quebec’s darling cannabis brand, we’ve selected their Moby Dick and Citroli flower. Moby Dick’s journey begins with a cross of the tried and true Haze genetics and a White Widow. So right off the bat, one can expect a highly charged, energizing experience well suited for social settings and generally getting s$%t done! Visually, the flower looks like the perfect mix of chunky flower structure with just enough elongation attributed to its strong, sativa dominant background. This well manicured indoor grown flower has a piny, citrus forward profile on both the nose and the palate featuring terpinolene, myrcene and limonene as the dominant terpenes. Next up from Bud Lafleur is their Citroli flower, a funky, cheese forward strain with a potency range of 27%-33% THC. Again, Bud Lafleur dips into the classic strains of Citral Skunk and Original Glue to come up with Citroli. Still a Aativa dominant hybrid strain, Citroli delivers an uplifting, focused experience well purposed for late night campfire conversations, gaming and focused chilling. Featuring myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene as the dominant terpenes, Citroli mates classic sativa effects with some modern flavour profiles to bring you a future classic.

We received other noteworthy flower from Valhalla Flower with their super tasty Cherry Cosmo and heady Rainbow Lava flower. Both offerings came in hot with THC in the 30%+ range. Dank Craft came through with another 14g bag filled with their Space Cake flower, a delightful cross of GSC and Snow Lotus. The resulting cross is an indica dominant killer with flavour notes of sweet confections and hints of gassy goodness. Not to be outdone, our pre-milled flower selections picked up a few new summertime additions as well. Starting off with Fuego’s Night Rider Milled and Sunny Daze Milled flower. The former being an indica dominant blend sporting an earthy, floral profile whist the sativa dominant latter, Sunny Daze invokes citrusy, piny flavour notes. Community c/o Purple Hills Cannabis jumps in with their Community Trim de la Trim Gasoline Alley Milled flower. A 7g bag of high octane gassy goodness. Last and certainly not least is the newest player in the game, Fleur de L’Île Jack Herer pre-milled sativa flower. Tasty and strong, smoking some of the Jack Herer pre-milled flower will have you wondering where indeed did the Emperor’s clothes go!!?!

Moving on to pre-rolls, we’ve seen many new products come (and go) in to the shop. For the fans of the cigarette style multi packs à la Redees, it seems that Redecan has undergone some behind the scenes changes that has left many wondering what to do in their absence. Well, we’ve found some solutions for you that may have you switching over to something different. New to us, OHJA brings us their Lemon Mintz sativa 10-pack and a Lemon Cherry Gelato hybrid 10-pack of pre-rolls. Flavourful, potent and convenient, the OHJA pre-rolls are sure to please on many levels. The folks over at Cali Slims dished out their Watermelon ZKTLZ Indica 10-pack and Tangie Sunset sativa 10-pack of pre-rolls to us this summer and we don’t hate that at all. For real though, the Cali Slims selections are well crafted little THC sticks that will have you up, or down whatever the case may be. Finally, rounding out our cigarette style pre-roll multi packs are the Hart’s Biscotti Gushers 10-packs. These indica dominant pre-rolls deliver some classic indica flavours and a few novel ones as well. Peppery and hoppy take care of those classic flavours, while notes of cookie dough and flowery citrus bring in the more playful side of their flavour profile.

For the fans of the 1g pre-roll format, we’ve brought in some great value minded choices as well as some heavy hitters sure to please the most discerning consumer. Hiway, Buddy Blooms, and Fuego each have some great value oriented 2-packs of 1g joints. Each provide Indica and sativa offerings with potencies ranging from 16%-26%+. If crushing cannons of cannabis is your thing, these joints are an easy, economical choice. For the fans of the heavy hitters, Terp Town brings the heat with their Thick Mintz 1g pre-roll packing a 31.3% THC punch accented by a 3.6% terpene array. The result, a pungent pre-roll packed with diesel notes underscored by hints of sweet cream and minty dankness. On deck in our lineup of heavy hitting 1g’ers is the Next Friday Research Institute Mutant Tire Fire 1g pre-roll. While the name may be a bit of a curve ball, this cross of Sherb Crasher and GMO brings a deep funk highlighted by strong diesel notes and that classic GMO funk. Whatever those guys at Next Friday are up to, let’s hope they don’t stop any time soon!

I really could go on, and on, and on about the new stuff that keeps coming in, but I’ll just name this blog post part 1 in an undetermined series of blog posts to highlight this summer’s newest and best products! See you soon and stay Good folks!
